- God wants HABITATION, not VISITATION.
1. Worship is often tested.
Genesis 22:1 NIV
Some time later God tested Abraham.
Deuteronomy 8:2 NIV
“Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.”
Job 23:10 NIV
He knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.
2. Worship is always costly.
3. Worship demands Obedience.
Genesis 22:11-14 ASV
11 And the angel of Jehovah called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham. And he said, Here I am. 12 And he said, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him. For now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me. 13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt-offering in the stead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh.
