Daystar Church is the most generous church I’ve ever known. In 2017, we decided to take things to a whole new level by setting the goal of having our “most generous year ever”. We wanted to see our church giving more resources than ever before and reaching the most people for Jesus.
But, it didn’t just stop with money. We were believing God for greater generosity in serving and in prayer. We wanted to see even more people set free from hurt and addiction, and more families changed for Christ.
This year’s annual report reflects a church that has been more generous this year than in any year prior. You will see that new records have been set in giving, new record highs in prayer, and new records celebrated in decisions for Christ. You will see hundreds of people connected in Small Groups and now serving on the Dream Team. You will see all these numbers and more.
‘Numbers’ matter at Daystar because every number represents a person. And these numbers matter because heaven and hell are real.
As you scroll through record-breaking statistics of what has been accomplished in 2017, remember these two things: 1) Through God, all things are possible. 2) He has so much more in store for us. What an exciting time it is to be a part of Daystar Church!
Total People Reached
I am thankful that God has placed me in a position to be a part of the Daystar Team! This past year was no exception! We saw God move in a mighty way at the Good Hope Campus. The people of Daystar gave of their time, talents and treasures in sacrificial ways, that our community would experience the love and power of Jesus Christ in a tangible way.
Because of the dedication of our Dream Team and God’s faithfulness, we saw over 2,600 people make decisions for Christ at the Good Hope Campus this past year. Also, 71 people took their faith public through water baptism. Through our outreach efforts, we were able to have a record Easter attendance with 3,882 people worshiping with us to celebrate a Risen Savior!
But, one of the things I’m most proud of this year, we took our prayer to deeper levels than ever before. Twice a year, our church seeks the Lord through 21 days of Prayer. This year, the Good Hope Campus averaged over 100 people attending these prayer services each morning at 6 am. This is an amazing achievement and speaks to the heart and future of our church campus. Through every win from this year, I’m still looking forward to what God has in store for us in the year ahead. I believe the best for us is still to come.
Daystar Church is transforming Madison through the love and power of Jesus Christ. Our focus this year has been reaching our community through servant evangelism and generous outreaches. We have given away more than 1,650 free meals to residents in our community, each with a reminder that God loves them and we do too! We have seen a record number of involvement in outreach participation along with an all-time high of outreach opportunities.
Another way we’ve seen positive growth this year is through Small Groups. We believe that real life change happens in the context of small groups. God has been gracious to us this year and we’ve seen substantial growth in groups. In the fall of 2017, we had more Small Groups than ever before.
This has been the year of the Dream Team. The people of Madison are INCREDIBLE. Daystar Madison consists of the best people on the planet. We love seeing God’s people use their gifts and passions to bring glory to His name. More than 80 people are serving consistently on the Dream Team in Madison. Daystar would not be the same without them.
I am constantly amazed to see what God is able to do with willing and obedient hearts. Of all the incredible things He’s done at Daystar Hartselle this past year, from transformational community outreach projects to hosting our largest attended Easter on record with 657 people in attendance (wow!), one of the numbers I’m actually most excited about is the number 217. That’s because 217 is the number of people who marked on a connect card that they attended Daystar Church in Hartselle for the first time ever last year!
One of the biggest reasons behind my excitement is that number means our church is doing an incredible job sharing the gospel and telling their friends and family about what God is doing at Daystar Church. Because when we step out and invite someone, stretch out of our comfort zone and tell someone about the difference Jesus has made in our lives or when we take risks and ask a friend or family member to come to church on Sunday, we give God an opportunity to move through us. As a result, we get to be part of more people accepting Christ as their savior, more people getting baptized and more becoming disciples than ever before!!!
One of the last things Jesus told us to do was to go out into the world and make disciples. Being a part of a campus that is passionate to accomplish that directive from Christ inspires me. And seeing that number gets me pumped to think about how much more God can accomplish through us in 2018. The best is yet to come!

Students Active in Small Groups
In fall 2016, Daystar Students partnered with nationally acclaimed and world renown motivational speaker, Reggie Dabbs, to impact and inspire over 7,000 students across 17 unique schools throughout Cullman County, Cullman City and the communities of Hartselle, Madison and Oneonta with a life-giving message of hope for change.
Together with Reggie Dabbs, Daystar Students ministered the gospel of Jesus and provided pathways and on-ramps for student transformation at two unique Kings & Queens events held across the Daystar Campuses. At Kings & Queens with Reggie Dabbs, Daystar saw over 1,300 students in attendance and over 200 students make new commitments to Christ!
People need people. That’s how God designed us. We also know that spiritual growth happens best in the context of relationships, and it doesn’t happen on accident. This is why Daystar Students launched Midweek (MDWK) Groups in Fall 2016. When students are connected in a healthy small group, they have a person who cares and a place to belong. Not only that, they have a built-in support system of people who they can share their story with, keep them accountable, help them process their doubts, and encourage them as they take their next step in their walk with Christ. Daystar Students is thrilled to report that our students and group leaders have grown healthier than ever with 38 student small group leaders mentoring and influencing our largest number of active students in small groups yet! August & September 2107 celebrated 264 students growing in relationship through active faith communities!
120 Daystar students and leaders across all campuses attended the annual MOTION Student Conference in July 2017 resulting in changed lives and strengthened faith relationships. While students were connecting in faith community groups, Daystar Student leaders received strategic student ministry training from nationally known leaders who are positively impacting student faith culture, today!
